New York Police Department

I asked little Jeremy what he wanted to be.

"I want to be a hero," he cried. "I want to be a big hero!"

"But what kind of hero?"

"New York Police Department!"

Wow, I thought. NYPD.

As if he read my mind -- which he may have -- "NYPD!"

I could understand why he wanted to be a New York Cop. Many people, especially since the events of 9/11, associate the New York Police Department with heroism.

As it happened, Little Jeremy grew up to be Big Jeremy, Lieutenant, proudly serving the people on the New York Police Department.
